what are the odds that the hydrants were completely irrelevant?
if 6 helos with an eta of 5 minutes were not sufficient to completely
stop the fire in its tracks - the Palisades Fire - then maybe the fire
was unstoppable from that point on
that is what happened basically
however - maybe if lafd and la co fd had better coordinated and better
positioned their units when responding to the call - maybe they could
have stopped the fire with the first 40 engines
iirc - we listened to the first 60 minutes of the fire tapes - and no
one reporte bad hydrants during that first hour - and no homes were
lost in the first hour - so maybe things started to go really bad in
the 2nd or 3rd or 4th hour of the fire
maybe all of this talk about reservoirs and valves and raking the
forest and tumbleweeds and epa inspections and trips to africa is all
100% diversionary from any discussion of the initial response and
initial attack
do we have any idea how long it took to dispatch the call? do we have
any idea what 911 calls were received initially?
