Cranberry Isles Maine - info

The Town of Cranberry Isles covers a couple of islands in Hancock County Maine

looking at the 2024 Annual Town Report we see the following info -

under the General Government budget they show $32,000 for Public
Safety Coordinator and $5,000 for her deputy

under the Public Safety budget is FD + Animal Control + ambulance etc

FD Zone 1 Grand Cranberry Island - approx $25K for FD expenses plus
$75K for new metal roof for fire station

FD Zone 2 Isleford Island - approx $26K for FD expenses - includes 5K
for propane iirc - probably involves a ferry ride

FD Zone 3 - Sutton Island + Bear Island - approx $5,000 for pump and
fire equipment expenses - maybe just portable pumps and fire hoses

Cranberry Isle Rescue Service - this includes expenses for maybe 12
EMTs plus 2 ambulances (Isleford and Grand Cranberry)

911 service costs $600 - probably via Hancock County comm center

two harbormasters get $5K each per year

Maine LifeFlight gets $2K

town has $3M budget and maybe $1M in the bank - ???

LGI has a town plow truck - maybe Little Grand Island if that exists

from audit in the town report - town is financially responsible for
the Cranberry Isles Volunteer Fire Club - town has paid some of their
capital expenses - do not see any other mention of VFD finances - lets
check the secretery of state info -

2022 - got $332,00 10 year loan for new fire truck at 2.89%

GCI transfer station got 25,000 gallon freshwater cistern for
firefighting - will be a game changer per fire chief - maybe cost $50K

in the town report both the Great Cranberry Isles VFD and the Isleford
VFD reports were both signed by Richard Howland - he is listed as the
fire warden - both reports seem to have the same info more or less -
both Fds have 1 station each and maybe 1 pumper and 1 tanker and 1 old
amb rescue truck each - you can see firenews.org for the specifics and
photos

bottom line - it appears that the town has 1 FD basically - its all
funded thru 1 budget perhaps - ( unless the 2 VFDs still have their
own budgets also ) - and the public safety coordinator might be a
clerk and an EMT

dpw garage - also has wifi Finacial info which is screwed up thanks to
the feds - school nurse works 5 hours per month - custodians work 11
hours per week - they run 1 school with maybe 15 students
