patch 460.60 R to the Symmes Hospital Emergency Room - so 10 to 15
minute after R1 arrived at an EMS call you would hear - "Rescue 1 to
Symmes" - and the ER nurse would answer - always a female iirc - "go
ahead Rescue" - and R1 would give a patient report - age - sex - major
complaint - may e ETS (always less than 5 minutes from anywhere in
town)
maybe if the dispatcher forgot to turn on the patch - R1 would just
call Symmes a 2nd time - the dispatcher would have flipped the switch

RRDB seems to show "fire dispatch" for channels that have paging

have response and FG comms)
there are a huge number of listings for FDs in the RRDB that are
labeled as 'operations' which seems to indicate paging plus response
plus (some) FG
perhaps the underlying theme is - FDs try to separate the paging
channel from the FG channel usually - they dont want paging signals to
drown out FG messages
RRDB seems to use the term 'dispatch' to indicate the paging channel -
if a FD uses pagers - the RRDB also seems to use the term 'dispatch'
to differentiate a dispatch channel from a FG channel or a response
channel
suggestion - for the typical RRDB user - they dont care how this info
is listed - they are primarily interested in police channels - anyone
who is interested in FDs will just load in all the FD channels that
they can find
maybe some nationwide nomenclature can be developed - "dispatch'

2. however - 'engine' is not the same as 'engine company' - 'engine'
is a vehicle - 'engine company' is the crew / people
3. iirc none of the type 3 engines and none of the type 6 engines are
full time staffed
4. there seems to be 6 TY3 engines that are cross staffed by the 3 or
4 people from the associated type 1 engine - the 5 OES type 3 engines
are maybe staffed by overtime people
5. the type 6 patrols are maybe staffed by 1 person from the
associated type 1 engine - and they respond with the Type 1 engine to

the tool of the devil - 5 or 6 hours with no traffic - and the second
that we hear some traffic - thr radio dies. - no idea who was looking

- so the initial responsibility would be all on the City FD
and the city fd would use city fd radio channels at 800 mhz initially
(plus maybe 1 aviation band am channel for helo to helo comms) - plus
the city would have 154.83 available for air to ground police and fire
comms
plus la city fd helos all have 800 mhz radios - so they can do 100% of
their comms on 800 mhz if they want to - the city fd has at least 18
repeaterized 800 mhz channels - plus an nearly infinite number of
simplex channels at 700 and 800 mhz - plus probably the city trs on
800 mhz - plus maybe LA RICS on 800 mhz TRS
still not sure if there is a comm plan dedicated to that Initial
Attack Zone - maybe santa susanna comm plan - or is that for the
Pacoima area?
