what options do they have?
1. get every airtanker and helo they can find into California
2. keep the out of state mutual aid coming
3. tell people that today is the day for them to clean up their yard
and prepare their evacuation plans and supplies
4. stockpile phoschek and cafs foam or whatever
5. sunday morning at day break - start dropping red slurry all around
southern california - (not sure how early you can drop slurry on brush
- maybe 2 hours - maybe 6 hours) - i am sure they have a pretty good
idea of which neighborhoods are at highest risk (topography - expected
wind speeds - clearance rates - age of brush - etc)
6. drop red slurry around all of the areas that are already burning
7. they can probably foam down or water down all brush next to major
roadways and any critical smaller escape routes
8. put every cop, FF, and EMT on duty - also DPW and utilities
9. staff 500 buses
10. evacuate any nursing homes or hospitals in critical brush areas
11. do TFR for all of California
12. put up civil air patrol with every plane they can find - to spot
fires immediately as they break out
13. staff all forest fire towers that are still standing - put
lookouts on every peak
14. put portable generator at every water pumping station
15. put every mailman on duty - task with spotting fires and doing evacuations
16. check on every disabled and elderly person that lives alone
17. kill all electric power in California - that might be just a bit
controversial lol
18. activate the military - there are many big military bases in
California - get all of their helos with Bambi buckets ready to go -
get their heavy tow trucks and engineering battalions on the road -
get their buses - get their cops - get everyone
19. coordinate with the news media - deputize any news helo that has
the ability to run video with street and building overlays - pipe the
info direct to 911 dispatch centers - dedicate dispatchers to make
efficient use of these helos - make broadcasts of which buildings are
endangered before the fire hits them - not after
20. if the private fire trucks are in the area - deputize them - have
them gel down every bld they can find
21. gonna need to stockpile food and water and fuel at fire stations -
enough for a week probably
22. what if a big earthquake hits or a big plane crashes or a mumbai
style attack happens or a hazmat cloud happens or a tsunami hits? who
will handle that?
