'thousands of homes saved' - lets think about that - what would have
happened if there was no FD? - did the FD really stop the fire? - or
were the winds just blowing in the right directions? - are all the
wood shake roofs gone now? - if so - how much would the fire spread
thru a urban area in Los Angeles City? considering that the whole town
is full of dry vegetation and trash, then I suppose it is possible
that everything in San Fernando Valley and Malibu could have burnt
down - but it depends on how strong and how long the winds blow
if the winds blew at 70 mph for 10 hours - then I could see the brands
going for 20 or 30 miles
like the Chief said - gotta trim branches and clean gutters - probably
need to take a weed wacker to every square inch of the place also
