listening via Broadcastify feed
every call is announced and/or dispatched via radio
the format is :
tone (1 or 2 seconds)
unit(s) assigned - type call - address - cross street - zone - FG channel
repeated a 2nd time
then unit will acknowledge verbally via the dispatch channel - "Squad
7 has it" or similar short phrase
the Zone is analogous to 'nearest box' in Boston and 'box' in NYC and
'box area' in Wash DC area
506 is a Chief
"25 Operator" is the pump operator on Engine 25 - maybe
"Engine 17" is the officer on Eng 17
Squad 7 sent to EMS call at 1225 PM
time out given at end of some dispatches
have only been listening for 1 hour - might be wrong on some of the details
"building fire" at 1142 am or 1042 am edt got - 3 engines + Squad 7 +
Ladder 8 + Rescue 2 + 506 + 502 - Zone 6044 - FG6
ems calls get 1 unit - as do residential fire alarms
