'district' in Massachusetts

district =

in malden, district = fire station or first due area

in plymouth county each town is divided into response districts for
mutual aid purposes ... if Kingston needs a mutual aid ambulance in
Kingston District 1, that might be the area of Kingston near plymouth
... so the county dispatcher sends a plymouth ambulance to the call
... if Kingston needs a mutual aid ambulance on the Duxbury side of
town, maybe that is Kingston District 2, the Duxbury dispatcher will
ask for an ambulance to his District2, and the county dispatcher has a
card that tells him to send the Duxbury ambulance to mutual ad calls
in Kingston District 2

in boston, district = battalion

iirc boston also uses 'district' to mean 'first due area' such as
"Engine 52 to Fire Alarm, we are back in our district" ... or maybe
just the district chiefs say that ... ?????

in dartmouth, district = fire department

in state forest fire service, district = zone or area or usually a county

in statewide aid plan, district = zone or area or usually a county
(maybe exactly same as state forestry districts]

in some areas, district = the name for the mutual aid fire radio channel

'reporting districts' might = census tracts ... for fire statistics

esn districts = 911 routing areas (not sure if this is real or not ...
maybe they say "esn areas"]

mutual response district ... maybe some FDs have areas where they
respond together ... like Harwich and Brewster in North Harwich ...
maybe an old concept ... maybe called 'line boxes' now ... you would
have to see the actual documents to see what words are used
