we finally figured out pine / featherville idaho

https://maps.app.goo.gl/7HwZaT7jkJJTvkFVA - here is the pine /
featherville ambulance and sheriff station - there is no fire truck
here

the highway barn is next door - and the groomer shed is 500 feet away

you might wonder why an area that has approx 700 homes would not have
a fire truck

btw - here is the article from 2020 that pretty much confirms that
they dont have a fire truck in either Pine or Featherville -
https://www.mountainhomenews.com/story/2682247.html - the Fairfield FD
is approx 45 minutes away from the area - but they are in the wrong
county and dont have a mutual aid agreement

also - the state fire marshal's list of FDs does not list any FD in
Pine nor Featherville

it just dawned on me that pine and featherville are about 15 road
miles apart - so they should really have 2 fire trucks in this area

here is the zerg90 map and it shows the situation -
https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1KJsnP-qkp9dnamYwEoyqhsbTIW10w7A&usp=sharing
- the only fire stations within 1 hour of Pine and Featherville are
the 2 summertime USFS Guard Stations - shake creek and lester creek

OK - so we know the situation - no fire trucks but they do have
highway trucks and sheriff and ambulance

Question - why dont they have any fire trucks?

We just found the answer in the Elmore County budget - the county
collects taxes for ambulance service countywide - the county also
collects taxes for 3 highway districts (that between them cover the
entire county) - and the county collects taxes for 5 fire districts -
but these 5 fire districts only cover small areas of the county

Guess which 2 areas the county does not collect any fire taxes for?
Yup - Pine and Featherville

Therefore - the bottom line seems to be that everyone who has a home
in Pine or Featherville does not have any fire insurance - and they
dont have any fire protection - and they dont really care. Apparently
they are all rich enough to rebuild if a fire takes out the entire
area.

BTW - there is no state forestry units in the area either - unknown why.

we need to find out if the Pine ambulance station has a set of Jaws -
otherwise - if there is ever a bad crash in the area - they will
apparently be waiting 1 hour for Fairfield FD or Mountain Home FD to
arrive,

Beware all ye who enter here - into Elmore County Idaho
