only copter 407 might be close - the rest might be 30 minutes out
cant find the fire? dont know the roads? dont have a drone? cant use
the fire cams?
initial responses in that area usually get Kern County FD + LA County
FD + Los Padres NF + Angeles NF and maybe Ventura County - but they
probably are not up to full strength - LPNF usually has a helo at
Chuchupaite - they should have been first helo in - HT55 might be
coming from Fox Field at Lancaster - the other HT might be coming out
of Van Nuys - Kern County FD does own 2 or 3 helos - dont know where
the others are at - Ventura County has about 7 helos but they are
maybe 40 minutes out
you can see how a tiny 2 bit fire becomes a huge coordination problem
- everyone is on different dispatch systems - everyone has to hop
around on 10 different channels - it should be easy - but if you dont
know which jurisdiction the fire is actually in - how do you pick a
proper command channel? (too much room for error there - way too much)
if I was Lord of Fire in Calif - the first agency that dispatches the
call gets to assign the command channel and be the initial ordering
point - everyone else can pound sand
