2017 - Beijing FD hired 682 fulltime "professional" firefighters -
they are civilians or ex military firefighters - they have 3 year
contracts and make $15,000 per year - which might be approx $60,000
per year in the USA
Apparently China has 2 military services - "Army" and "Armed Police" -
Armed Police might be firefighters and riot cops mostly - Armed Police
might be like the special teams in the UK also - recently most Beijing
cops were unarmed (2010 ish iirc)
