FPD 1, 2, 3, and 4 all have 5 commissioners chosen by the county commissioners

so it looks like all fpd in acadia parish have 5 commissioners chosen
by the county commissioners - except for Iota FPD + Acadia Evangeline
FPD + FPD 9

I have not checked FPD 5,6,7,8,10,11 explicitly yet

to figure out this county you need to first get list of FDs from state
fire marshal site - then check the fpd list - then check the county
assessor land records - and it would be great to see what the county
budget shows

in the end you would hopefully find out which fire trucks are at which
fire stations - who pays for them - who controls them - who staffs
them - who sets the budget for them

I suspect that the FPDs contract with the VFDs for service and
manpower - the FPDs probably pay for the stations and equipment to
serve the unincorporated areas - the mayors and city councils pay for
the fire service in the cities

there might be just 2 or 3 FPD that are not based on a city vfd - FPD
11 comes to mind as 1 of them - maybe fpd 3 also

church city fd is not associated with a fpd apparently - they are a city

eunice fd might share one of its stations with fpd 4

fpd 5 might contract with 2 vfd - estherwood fd + mermenteau fd

I think the bottom bottom line might be - the citys are responsible
for fire service in the citys - the county is responsible for fire
service outside of the citys (rural areas) - the county set up FPDs to
govern the FDs in the rural areas

the county assessor probably publishes a different fire mileage (fire
tax rate) for each fpd - this would reflect the will of the various
fire commisioners
