Guernsey County Ohio - radio info
this is apparently their radio story
in the beginning - fire was on 33.90 - police was on 39.64
then cambridge fire went to 154.355R and cambridge police went to 154.XX R
then county fire added 33.94 as a 2ndary channel - and byersville
police got 159.21 R
then several FDs added some vhf highband channels for extenders -
154.10 - 155.04 etc
county highways got 151.055 R
did county fire units ever use 33.42 for portables? that could have
been useful for large fires
then county fire upgraded to 151.31 R with 4 repeater sites - and
154.325 HT + 154.4375 HT + 154.9575 M (maybe the input channel) +
155.3025 HT + 155.4075 HT - also 155.5875 BM
sheriff might have added a couple of vhf highband repeater channels as
auxiliary channels
recently - agencies have started to use the statewide trs that has
both 700 mhz and 800 mhz channels
salt flat state park covers 20 square miles - apparently they use the state TRS

Portland ME FD radio traffic
listening via openmhz this morning
fire dispatch TG - ems calls being dispatched - also routine admin traffic
ems calls were sent to ch2 and ch3
no radio test heard
approx 5 calls between 5 am and 10 am - all ems calls - no fire calls
MEDCU = ambulance
C2 talked to Ladder 3 on the Fire Dispatch TG - C2 asked the Lt to
bring their ToughPad to Central for repair - apparently Ladder 3 has 2
vehicles that share 1 ToughPad
ems calls were dispatched thusly - computer voice says 'standby for a
ems call" once or twice - than a 5 second tone - then a live person
announces the call once or twice iirc - units to respond + address +
type of incident + alpha delta etc level + assigned channel

iirc - 15 years ago - E2 used to go to calls at Drake Village and E1
used to go to calls at 17 Mill St
then it was changed - E3 started to take calls at Drake Village - even
when they had the big quint on the big hill - and E2 started to take
the calls at 17 Mill St
presumably these changes left E1 more available for East Arlington calls

essentially every inch of every pipeline is a single point of failure
except maybe they could reroute product thru KY if the northern

do they have any plan to use tanker trucks to shuttle petro around a
broken pipe? maybe 100 trucks doing a 60 mile shuttle? 50 deliveries
per hour at 8,000 gallons each - that would be 400,00 gallons per hour
- better than nothing

page 462 ish to end - list of all schools and fire stations and police
stations etc in the county
critical facilities
this list is not available anywhere else on the internet it seems -
there is no county fire chief and no countywide fire association
apparently - so there is no good countywide list of fire stations -
unless radio reference wiki has a list
also seems to be very little government budget info on the local
website - maybe its all on the state audit website
did see an audit for aurnoldville vfd - they spent $17,000 of $40K on
fundraising - only have 150K is assets - maybe their big numbers are
under county fire district 5
this county seems to be set up like many louisiana countries - the
cities and towns have FDs - and the county pays them cover areas
outside of their municipal borders - so you end up with 7 county fire
districts and 10 city FDs and approx 40 fire stations but only 10 fire
chiefs
here is the zerg90 map - but it still needs more work - need to double
check hazmit plan info - and radio reference info - both rrdb and wiki
and fcc uls - also need to check firefandom -

FDNY intense radio action
https://youtu.be/5WeoRviMo6o?si=SmE8ZnEPEV2ZBHoc
listening to the radio traffic at the beginning - it sounded like
there were multiple doubles and triples when multiple people were all
trying to talk at the same time - there was a mayday + burst line +
multi rescues all at the same time
the fdny standard playbook seems to be - each engine company brings 1
hose line into the building - the ladder companies do search and
rescue - first alarm will bring 3 engines and 2 ladders approx - with
5 or 6 people per company
did not hear any mention of a standpipe - and no mention of a spare hose donut
some of the radio messages that came thru loud and clear were just
transmitted too quickly to be understood
someone at the command post should be running a tape recorder to
capture all of those radio messages - maybe multi people should be
running tape recorders and reviewing them in real time - wont be easy
though - someone would have to keep a running log like - 12:24:00 eng
145 mesg - 12:24:10 eng 146 message - 12:24:20 double - 12:24:22 -
yell - etc etc etc - actually - maybe the log can generated
automatically using the squawks / digital radio identifiers

obviously VHF high band is king
all of these towns have fulltime dpw crews - probably with staffing of
3 to 30 people - many of the staff probably also serve as firefighters
and maybe emts and cops (as side jobs)
all of these dpw channels are probably also found in the police and
fire radios in the towns - so it is not uncommon probably to hear
police and fire traffic on the dpw channels at times
it took quite a bit of massaging of the online data to come up with
this listing - we are guessing that 75% of this list is accurate - but
some of these channels might be actually dedicated for police or fire
units - but that might mean that some of these DPWs actually use CB
radios or GMRS radios etc - this thought is based on the fcc uls not
showing any other channels for these towns and cities - to say it
another way - if these channels are not all dpw channels - then the
fcc uls is not showing any other channels that these dpws might be
using - and we doubt they are on cellular because coverage is probably
not good in Hampshire County

955 am - colrain engine 3 at scene
1000 am - request for 1 engine from rowe fd
possibly we missed some of the radio messages - maybe we can go back
and listen to the tapes again
looks like they had a 17 minute response time
worcester fire department probably could have flown a full crew there
in 17 minutes - it is 60 air miles from worcester to heath - if the
helo could fly at 120 mph than it would take half an hour to reach the
scene - chances are that a helo could do 150 mph or even 200 mph

The average speed of a helicopter is around 140 knots, which equals to
about 160 mph or 260 km/h1. However, the speed can vary depending on
many factors, including the size of the helicopter and what or who is
on board at the time1234.Here are some examples of helicopter speeds3:
Most single-engine helicopters: around 150 kts or 173 mph
Most twin-engine helicopters: around 160 kts or 185 mph
Tilt-Rotor helicopters like the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey: 305 kts or 351mph
The world record holder, G-LYNX: 223 kts or 257mph

Re: FAA ARFF Requirements
this might be the response time requirements
note - no specific turnout time and no specific travel time - just
overall times are given - turnout times might be dictated by
individual airports possibly
=========================
The response required by paragraph (h)(1)(ii) of this section must
achieve the following performance criteria:
(i) Within 3 minutes from the time of the alarm, at least one required
aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicle must reach the midpoint of
the farthest runway serving air carrier aircraft from its assigned
post or reach any other specified point of comparable distance on the
movement area that is available to air carriers, and begin application
of extinguishing agent.
(ii) Within 4 minutes from the time of alarm, all other required
vehicles must reach the point specified in paragraph (h)(2)(i) of this
section from their assigned posts and begin application of an
extinguishing agent.

might be sufficient

Vehicle communications. Each vehicle required under § 139.317 must be
equipped with two-way voice radio communications that provide for
contact with at least—
(1) All other required emergency vehicles;
(2) The air traffic control tower;
(3) The common traffic advisory frequency when an air traffic control
tower is not in operation or there is no air traffic control tower,
and
(4) Fire stations, as specified in the airport emergency plan.

LaGrange NY - all career firefighters are paramedics
History - LaGrange Fire District (lagrangefireny.us)
https://lagrangefireny.us/about/history/
they first got paramedics on the payroll in 2000
they have at least 2 paramedics on duty 24/7
since they operate 2 fulltime ambulances - gonna guess that their
typical staffing is - 2 career / fulltime firefighter / paramedics
plus 2 per diem firefighter / EMTs - maybe they 24/7 staff 1 ambulance
at station 1 and 1 ambulance at station 2 - maybe they jump on a fire
truck if they get a fire call instead of an ambulance call

April 13, 2023 – U.S. life expectancy has declined to 76.4 years, the
shortest it's been in nearly two decades, according to December data
from the CDC. Two experts from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public
Health—Dean Michelle Williams and Ariadne Labs' Asaf Bitton—discussed
the problem on WP Live, a podcast from the Washington Post.

"In this video I explore modifying the WiFi Dev Boards ESP32 to wire
on an external SMA connector. We then test the Flipper Zero with the
24 dB high gain directional "Death Ray" antenna connected to a 10 dB
power amplifier that can precisely take out a distant target of
interest. I also experiment and document the testing using a spectrum
analyzer, and a HackRF portapack as a test signal generator. Various
tests are preformed to scientifically document the radio and antennas
performance. This upgrade will be helpful for extending the range of
Flippers Deauth, Evil Portal, and Rick Roll attacks among other
things."

the old 1992 truck is dying
The highway department narrowly escaped injury twice this year, once
when a telephone pole collapsed landing wires on the plow truck and
again when the F550 was engulfed in flames when a hydraulic line
burst. The plow truck was repaired, but the F550 had to be replaced
using both insurance money and emergency surplus funds. Thankfully
there were no serious injuries and the road crew continues their
excellent service to the town.
The fire department also faced vehicle issues as the tired 1992 rescue
chassis smoked and leaked its way to calls A new truck has been
ordered using Capital Reserve Funds; this vehicle will use the same
rescue body. Until it arrives Chief Nelson will continue to bandage
the old '92 until her final call.
While both departments faced challenges in 2022, they also had some
unexpected rewards. The highway department received an additional
$70,911 highway block grant, and a $107,787 bridge grant. The fire
department was able to purchase a gear extractor and gear dryer for
the new fire station after receiving a $34,000 GOEFER grant.

William was an unmarried twenty-three year old blacksmith when his
daughter was stillborn. He quickly left Gloucester to attend college,
obtained a medical degree and opened a practice in a nearby town.
Apart from a few years as a medical officer during World War I he
remained there for the rest of his life and never married.
Edward was a forty-six year old clergyman when he succumbed to
temptation and fathered a child out of wedlock. At the time both he
and the child's mother, Delia, were married to other people. In fact,
Edward had been the officiating minister at Delia's wedding. She
apparently became so enamored of him that she left her husband and
followed Edward out of town when he moved to a new congregation. Two
years later she returned to Gloucester, pregnant and destitute. She
stayed at the Poor House until her husband took her back and the baby,
a boy, died as her husband's son a few months later. Edward left the
ministry for a brief time, finding work as a traveling salesman in
toiletries, but was once again a clergyman when he died at the age of
eighty

thread about regional 911 dispatch in Massachusetts
https://www.scan-ne.net/sne/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=44145&sid=0deac3924913a20ee5a4b414b9af9af5
1. the present system will rollover calls to other 911 center when the
crap hits the fan
2. los angeles county sheriff has calltakers in each sheriffs
substation - but all radio dispatch is from 1 central location - so
thats a unique option that can work - probably can work in reverse
also (like NH or RI for example)

Franklin County Massachusetts - DPW radio channels
this is a rural and mountainous county
every town in franklin county has their own highway division or dpw
(dept of public works) - except maybe 1 - maybe bernadston shares
their dpw director with gill
each of these dpw have their own radio channel - most channels seem to
be vhf highband - some might be vhf low - some might be uhf - none are
800 afaik
police and fire were on uhf for many years - they might have moved to
the state 800TRS recently - or are in the process of moving
the MassDOT handles the state highways - not sure if they have any
operational posts in franklin county or not - MassDOT was on 47 mhz
historically - maybe they have moved to 800T - they use lots of
private snowplows in the winter - MassDOT fired all their plow drivers
in the 1970s or something like that - more hackarama stuff

Jurisdiction and Maintenance Authority All roadways in Massachusetts
have a designated ownership. This ownership entity has jurisdiction
over the roadway, which means they are responsible for the
preservation and maintenance of the road surface (paved or unpaved) as
well as all of the traffic control devices and roadside elements
within the right-of-way. The entity with jurisdiction also has the
authority to make changes to the geometry or operations of the
roadway, except where this authority is superseded by state or federal
regulations. Examples of some of these exceptions where State
authority governs are described in this Guide. Most roadways in
Franklin County are under the jurisdiction of the Towns. Most, but not
all, of numbered routes (e.g., Route 5, Route 112) are under MassDOT
jurisdiction; some segments of numbered routes are under Town
jurisdiction, and MassDOT does have jurisdiction over a few roads that
are not numbered. Some Towns have agreements with MassDOT to perform
certain maintenance operations, such as snow and ice treatment, on
certain roads under Town jurisdiction. Each Town should maintain
records of which roadways are within their jurisdiction.

Mass State 911 Dept operates 2 PSAPs
Information about our PSAP Operations Division
The State 911 Department operates two Public Safety Answering Points
in the Commonwealth. One in Middleton, Massachusetts: North Shore
Regional 911 Center and one in Framingham, Massachusetts: POD-1
Framingham.

interesting - we always thought that framingham was operated by mass
state police at their hq
framingham must receive all the wireless 911 calls from the limited
access highways in eastern mass
iirc middleton receives 911 calls from approx 6 towns in essex county
- plus many wireless calls from north eastern massachusetts

mass 911 database has problems
regarding addresses of locations
"There are many, many situations in Massachusetts where these
(addressing) rules are not being followed. These situations are a
significant obstacle to implementing Next Generation 911 and to public
safety in general."
https://www.mass.gov/info-details/massgis-and-nextgen-911
some of the fine points of 911 addressing
===================
afaik - there are 351 cities and towns in massachusetts - there are no
unincorporated areas (except for maybe 1 or 2 orphan offshore islands
that might actually belong to Spain or something crazy like that) -
each municipality has its own addressing scheme - the city of boston
addresses go back 100s of years and there are maybe 10 Main Streets in
Boston - but in general - odd numbers are on 1 side of the street -
even numbers are on the other side of the street - numbers raise
numerically / sequentially (they dont hop around too much in other
words)
it is very possible that 451 northborough street in southborough is
next door to 527 southborough street in northborough - but most people
realize that is what happens when you hit a municipal border in
Massachusetts - and most/all main streets have big signs at the
community borders

turtleboy updates - canton mass - cop murder
nothing new on the 911 dispatcher issue
last night turtleboy mentioned the part of the canton special town
meeting when the police supporter said that the public has oversight
of the police via listening to scanners - turtleboy did not seem to be
enamored of that idea
watching the turtleboy show last night it sure seemed that the PD
certification system in place in massachusetts sure seems to be a joke
- they spend alot of time promulgating policies but then are left to
self discipline themselves - surrounding towns had written up 15 to 30
cops for various incidents - Canton had only written up 1 cop - and he
was a boston cop who happened to live in canton - no further info on
who that boston cop was
[ yellow bus did a tribute to john okeefe on yt last night - not sure
if he covered the stm or not ]
the canton confidential facebook page apparently went down when the
owner needed a favor from the selectmen
turtleboy strongly suggested last night that the alberts are dealing
drugs - and have dealt drugs from their store for a long time
one of the turtleboy supporters was brutally attacked by a guy at the
canton stm - turns out the guy is an ER doctor in brockton and is
related to some canton cop(s) - and is maybe a swat team doctor - the
guy he elbowed in the chest is disabled due to back problems - it was
ALL caught on tape - even when the guys wife told him not to do it -
this is APPALLING - the victim apparently was not seriously injured
and did not get knocked to the ground
keywords - openness - live scanner audio - police accountability -
police professionalism - openness - transparency - police corruption

franklin county mass still has a sheriff dept
https://www.fcso-ma.us/k9-services - they have 1 or more police dogs
they also run the jail and have a work crew and do auto detailing and
print shop and regional dog control
this might be the only remnant of county government in franklin county
massachusetts and connecticut 'abolished' state government in the
1970s ish due to patronage problems or whatever

Cheshire County NH - radio info and such
https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1BJveI2fvmZw1_o43_-eNCCAgHBI&usp=sharing
- fire station map - with dpw and police added
===========================
here are the dpw channels
note - all towns have vfds that are dispatched on 154.43 and use
154.385 as fireground - 90% of towns have their own police and they
are all dispatched by the sheriff on 155.07R - some towns have local
police channels also
The City of Keene has their own police and fire channels
each town has their own DPW staffed with 2 to 5 fulltime workers ish -
typically each town has a dpw radio channel - and that dpw channel
serves as a secondary channel for the local police and fire units - in
other words - each fire and police radio in the county most certainly
has at least 1 dpw channel installed - this is unheard of in
california and texas I am sure - but screw them
ambulances are paged on 154.43 and typically operate on 155.715 or 155.205
the dpw line up is -
Alstead - 155.85 82.5 or 453.275 R 136.5
Chesterfield - 156.06 M 192.8 or maybe 155.085 225.7
Dublin - 151.115 R - DPL 516
Fitzwilliam - 154.98 136.5
Gilsum - 159.0075 M
Harrisville - 159.165 136.5
Hinsdale - 155.835 R - 136.5 - maybe just fd on there
Jaffrey - 155.775 R - PL ???
Keene - 158.985 136.5
Marlborough - 151.115 R - PL 136.5
Marlow - 156.015
Nelson - 159.06 R
Richmond - 158.865 136.5
Rindge - 156.18 R 156.7 - pd uses p25 on same freq - (153.80 might be
fd only or maybe dpw uses it also)
Roxbury - ??? - maybe CB - maybe a 1 man shop
Stoddard - ??? - maybe CB
Sullivan - 154.025 136.5
Surry - 154.95 M - 155.145
Swanzey - 153.965 136.5 - maybe 155.40 136.5 also
Troy - 155.985 136.5
Walpole - ? 153.815 136.5 - (? 453.275R from 2002)
Winchester - 151.0025 dpl125 - (154.7925R 136.5 townwide)
(there are no other citys or towns in cheshire county)
any listing with pl or dpl came from rrdb - others came from fcc uls -
tally - 14 or 15 have listed pl or dpl - 5 have no pl listed - 2 might
be cb - so 15 out of 22 are known - thats a pretty good percentage -
around 70%
we have not been able to get into the FCC General Menu Reports to do
more searching - they dont seem to like VPNs
99% of channels are VHF highband - slowly but surely more repeaters
are being added - it is a hilly / mountainous county
yes - 2 dpws have repeaters on 151.115R - and they are close to each
other - but maybe a mtn separates them

Coastal (OCN, CBD, ENC, SOL, DEL) Departments Dispatch / Admin / Tacs
ocn = oceanside fd - enc = escondido fd = DEL must be del boca vista lol
MARS = mutual aid radio system
san diego county has a county wide 800 trs and most public safety
units in the county use it - except usfs fbi cia military chp -
actually - maybe chp does use it since cal fire uses it - but iirc cal
fire reverts to vhf for any wildfire incidents

units in a convoy can use to chat amongst themselves
note - the "D" in those channel names signifies 'direct' aka non repeaterized

Milford NH has ISO 3/4 rating
https://www.milford.nh.gov/fire-department/pages/iso-ratings
ISO 3 in hydrant areas
ISO 4 in non hydrant areas
is that how ISO split ratings usually work? wasnt it 3 / 3x or 3 / 3y?
or is that functionally equivalent to 3/4?

Woman killed in Marshfield Mass crash involving military-style vehicle
https://www.wcvb.com/article/tactical-vehicle-marshfield-crash/45896262
not sure why Marshfield Police would ever need this in a million years
- maybe if there was a Mumbai style attack in Plymouth County
somewhere and no helos could fly and no drones could fly and no banana
peels could be thrown - then this MRAP could save the day maybe - or
maybe if someone stole a MRAP and the cops wanted to stop him or her -
but they would probably need a Super MRAP to do that - like a M1
abrams battle tank maybe

119 air miles from boston to mount washington mass - they dont have a fd either

100 ground miles from a structural FD
that stretch of interstate between baker california and las vegas is
94 miles - and there are no structural FDs between them - ish

Ex-girlfriend drops lawsuits against Tiger Woods, says she never
claimed sexual harassment
Herman was Woods' girlfriend from 2015 until October 2022, moving into
his $54 million mansion north of Palm Beach in 2016. She managed his
Palm Beach County restaurant before and during the first years of
their romantic relationship, and she signed a nondisclosure agreement
in 2017 that barred her from discussing their relationship publicly.
It also required her to take any legal disagreements with Woods to
private arbitration and not court.
Forbes Magazine estimates Woods' net worth at $1.1 billion. In 2017,
Woods had put the mansion into the Jupiter Island Irrevocable
Homestead Trust, an entity he created that has only himself and his
two children as beneficiaries.
