Plymouth completed action on a $3,555,576 operating budget and
approved a variety of other monetary articles, including $165,756 for
vehicles for the Fire, Police, Highway, Public Works and other
departments; $132,855 for street construction; $125,000 to reconstruct
a portion of Long Pond Road; $118,000 for private ambulance service;
$75,000 to make improvements in the town's waste- water treatment; and
$80,000 for the town's unemployment compensation fund.

The meeting at Lexington passed an operating budget of $31,248,550
after a short discussion. Among the departmental budgets, the School
Department received $17,617,012; Police, $1,659,124; and Fire
Department, $1,478,486. Some $300,000 was voted for the pension fund,
$350,000 for salary adjustments as a result of collective bargaining
and $175,000 for the reserve fund.
