bottom line ... the Earth is a globe or ball ... the top is the North
pole ... our maps are drawn with the top being the North direction
I have said this before ... pretend you are a bird flying over a city
and flying towards the North pole ... if you stretch out your arms /
wings ... your right arm / wing is pointing to the east ... your left
arm is pointing towards the West ... your tail feathers / legs are
pointing to the south / south pole .... this is how our USA maps are
usually oriented ... north to top ... east to right ... west to left
.... south to bottom of map
maps in South America might be oriented differently ... I am not sure
about that
