Missoula Helitack Program
The primary mission of Missoula Helitack is to provide 2 aircraft and
personnel, as a national and forest resource, for initial attack and
incident support. The two aircraft (Type 2 and Type 3) and crew (25
personnel) are equipped and trained to provide safe, efficient, and
effective aviation services for all risk incidents within the local,
geographic, and national area. The aircraft contract mandatory
availability period (MAP) begins early-June and ends late-September.
Contract extensions, both pre- and post-MAP have been common in recent
years. Large amounts of travel and being away from the home unit can
be expected.
