motor biscuit story about USA fire "trucks"

https://www.motorbiscuit.com/who-makes-fire-trucks-how-much-does-new-fire-truck-cost/

engine = pumper = vehicle with big pump and big water tank

aerial = vehicle with 100 foot ladder ... on east coast mostly they
are called "Ladders" ... on west coast mostly they are called "Trucks"
... just look at some photos ... you will see

we estimate that 50% of aerials also have big pumps and big water
tanks ... they are called 'quints' ... 50% of aerials have zero water
on board ... mostly in the big cities ... if NYC started to put pumps
and water tanks on their ladder trucks, every other FD in the US would
follow within 5 years

other common fire vehicles in usa are

brush trucks ... maybe 4 wheel drive ... have small pump and small water tank

tanker trucks ... usually carry more than 1,500 gallons of water ...
called 'water tenders' in California because they are special ... the
pump on a tanker is usually 500 gpm ... the pump on an 'engine' is
usually 1,250 gpm

rescue trucks ... have rescue tools ... usually do not have any water on board
