radio comms for fires ... just thinking out loud for 2022

radio communications needs for wildfires and structure fires

priority 1 .... sharing real time intelligence on ... life safety
issues ... rescues ... need for als and medevacs ... fire and
smoke moving towards occupied areas ... need for evacuations ... etc

priority 1A ... coordinating all resources to meet priority 1 issues

priority 2 .. saving high value locations

priority 3 ... stopping forward progress of fire

=================

if only 1 simplex radio channel is available ... then all radio comms
have to take place on the one radio channel

if a repeater channel is available ... then any comms that cannot be
accomplished on a simplex channel can use the repeater channel

if multiple radio channels are available ... the general scheme is
... commanders talk to commanders and dispatcher on the command
channel ... firefighters talk to each other on other channels ....
firefighters are typically grouped on division channels

there are also emergency and air to ground channels .... might be
smart NOT to use scan feature on any radios ... except maybe for the
emergency channel ... yes that could be a good rule of thumb ...
never use the scan feature unless it is used to scan the emergency
channel ... the emergency channel can be 168.625 for any wildfire that
has aircraft assigned ... and 153.83 or 154.28 for other fires ... or
maybe 453.2125 or 851.0125
