report on los angeles county lodd

https://www.fireengineering.com/firefighting/report-looks-at-circumstances-surrounding-l-a-county-ca-firefighter-lodd/

mayday was missed somewhat

note ... los angeles county uses vhf on the fireground ..... I dont
think that the dispatchers can hear any of those messages ... they are
simplex channels afaik

in fact ... I have the macs radio guidelines document open already ..
was looking at it earlier today .... here are the los angeles county
radio channels that are listed ... there is 1 air to ground channel
and 5 repeater channels and 7 "direct' channels

I assume that the mayday went out on one of the direct channels ...
and anyone that was line of sight to that radio at that moment
received the alert .... but if there was a double, maybe the mayday
would not have been decoded properly ... which is maybe what happened
to the captain
