public safety overview
state police do crowd patrol + screening + VIP escorts - since the
Esplanade is state property and usually patrolled by the state police
boston police do traffic control and crowd control in areas adjacent
to the esplanade
boston ems does ems on the esplanade and on the river and in the
nearby neighborhoods
across the river in cambridge - MIT and Cambridge provide safety services
on the river - boston ems rides on state police boats - boston fire
might have 1 boat on the river - cambridge has 1 or 2 boats - uscg
might have a boat or 2 on the river also
boston symphony or mugar company handles the musical production
one TV station provides mass media coverage maybe
boston fire might have hazmat team on standby in the area - state
hazmat team might be staged somewhere - fbi might have some teams
around - maybe
unknown on swat teams or eod teams or disaster teams
mass general hospital is only a couple of blocks away - hopefully they
have extra staff on duty
mbta provides lots of buses and trains till late - hopefully
not sure where the fireworks will be at - 10 pm is the time I think -
maybe at the esplanade or maybe downtown at the harbor - concert will
start at 8pm
bpd uses ch1 (460.35R) - it is patched to 851.5125 + Fed IO 158.73? +
BAP 4 470.5625R
reportedly - bapern central is patched to Fed LE4 and LPS1 and
Cambridge PS - unknown use
Mass State Police (MSP) is using SOPS1 for traffic control + SOPS4 for
vip escorts + LPS3 for marine units / boats
Events 2 TG might be for crowd control on the esplanade or maybe natl
guard on the esplanade
not hearing any traffic on bapern central except that bpd called mit once
470.0125 has had zero traffic all day
apparently the radios being used cannot scan across multiple bands -
hence the need to create multi band patched networks - not really sure
why they do this - there are just 2 primary police channels in use -
BPD Ch 1 and MSP SOPS 1
Boston Fire might be using Ch 3 - let me hunt around and see what else
we can dig up
SOPS and LPS and EVENTs TGs are on the 700/800T CoMirs system
