radio repeater station = 2 boxes that sit up on a high spot - box 1
has a radio receiver that listens to freq 1 - box 2 has a radio
transmitter that transmits on freq 2 - there is a wire from box 1 TO
box 2 that immediately ships any radio signals received by box 1 to
box 2 - said radio traffic is then transmitted forthwith by box 2 in
the confines of the something something - dont ya love the NYC jargon?
================
The FCC ULS (the fcc radio license database) has several types of
radio repeaters - FB2 - MO3 - FB2T - FX2
FB2 = normal garden variety repeater
FB2S = a backup / spare / secondary / reserve garden variety repeater
MO3 = repeater in a car or truck
FB2T = temporary repeater - like in a mobile command post
FX2 - radio relay that transmits a signal to one specific location - a
"link" station
----------
iirc the IRAC / federal radio database uses the designator "FBR" as an
equivalent to the FCC FB2
