if we had a new guideline that mandated that there be just 1 fire
dispatch radio channel per county - which counties would need an
exemption?
as it stands now
los angeles county has nearly 500 stations - so they probably need at
least 5 dispatch channels
riverside county has nearly 150 stations - so they probably need at
least 2 dispatch channels
san diego county probably has around 150 fire stations - so they need
at least 2 dispatch channels
NYC is fine - they already have 1 fire channel per county
san bernardino county might have over 100 stations - they might need 2
dispatch channels
cook county illinois might have 300 fire stations - so they would need
3 dispatch channels
allegheny county PA might have 100 stations - they might need a 2nd
dispatch channel
king county WA has alot of stations - not sure if they are over 100 though
maricopa county AZ probably has over 100 stations
harris county texas might need a 2nd channel
miami dade county might need 2 dispatch channels
dallas county might need a 2nd channel
tarrant county texas might need a 2nd channel
broward county FL might need a 2nd channel
wow - middlesex county mass might need a 2nd channel also
here is some good info on county populations -
https://worldpopulationreview.com/us-counties
riddle me this - how does Kings County NY (Brooklyn) with a population
of 2.8 million get away with having just one fire dispatch channel? -
let me give 2 answers - MDTs + the ambulances are not on the fire
channel
therefore - if we mandate that each county have 1 fire dispatch
channel - then fewer than 20 counties will need exemptions
there are 3,142 counties in the USA
