bottom line - many small items combined to wreck the connection
between the floor slab and the column near the planters by the pool
maybe problems with - drainage - concrete strength - rebar placement -
added weight of planters - lack of concern by engineers and inspectors
foundation slab was OK - and limestone below the bld was solid
