tax overview

very interesting report - Rural Metro now provides 17 fire stations in
Knox County

they look at travel distances but that may not equate well to travel
times - it would depend on the speed limits on the roadways

iirc there is a city station and a rural metro station that are very
close to each other on the west side - if the Rural Metro station
closed they would maybe save $1M per year - which could probably buy a
new quint for EVERY station in the county - something to think about -
or the money could be used for pay raises

I would like to strongly suggest that they go to a countywide FD -
merge the Knoxville City FD and all the other FDs in the county. For
the volunteer stations that are outside of the county - maybe they can
join existing VFDs in the adjacent counties.
